Nebraska Methodist Health System is seeking a detail-oriented Hospital Inpatient Coder to join our team at the Methodist Corporate Office. In this position, you will be responsible for reviewing inpatient medical records for accuracy and coding all relevant data into our computer system. Your work ensures the integrity of patient information and supports accurate billing, compliance, and quality healthcare delivery.
Job Details & Responsibilities:
- Assign ICD-10-CM codes to inpatient and rehab records, ensuring accuracy and reimbursement per UHDDS guidelines.
- Maintain 98% coding accuracy, including physician info and POA indicators.
- Complete DRG grouping for timely claims submission, maintaining 99% accuracy.
- Meet productivity standards: 1 chart/hour at Methodist, 2 charts/hour at Women's and Jennie Edmundson Hospitals.
- Review discharge dispositions and update claims as needed.
- Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Specialists to identify documentation opportunities and generate compliant queries.
- Update Optum tool with final DRG or queries, and assist in concurrent coding for DRG and GMLOS generation.

- Methodist Corporate Office - 825 S 169th Street. - Omaha, NE.
Schedule:
- Monday - Friday; regular business hours.
Salary:
- Pay starts at $24.20 and may increase based on work history/experience.
Job Qualifications:
- Completion of college-level courses in anatomy, physiology, biology, disease process, and medical terminology required.
- Requires a Health Information Management degree or related healthcare degree (associate's or bachelor's) or five years of prior coding experience.
- Must participate in mandatory in-services and continuing education programs as directed by supervisor or external agencies.
- Knowledge of ICD-9CM/ICD-10-CM coding nomenclature required, which may be obtained through a coding course or 4+ years of coding experience.
- Experience with personal computers is required, and prior coding experience is preferred.
- Certification required: RHIT, CCS, CCA, or CPC.
